We went there last night for a friendโs birthday and had a really lovely time. The food was genuinely very good, proper Modern French food, simple and comforting, just how we like it. Two of us had the steak tartare and it was really tasty. Personally, there were a bit too many capers for my taste, and I wouldโve loved to build it myself the traditional French way, but it was still very enjoyable. We also shared a crab omelette, which was honestly a 10/10 so good, especially with the little fish sauce on the side. The Wagyu burger with raclette was also a great choice, really nice and indulgent. We had gnocchi as well for our vegetarian friend, and those were nice too. The staff were amazing, and a special mention to Christian, our server, who was super friendly and made the evening even better. Price-wise, it felt fair not cheap, but totally reasonable for good-quality food. Overall, a very nice evening and definitely a place weโd come back to.
Great service with underwhelming food, okay venue and weird, defensive management (see restaurantโs reply). Venue was loud and dark, but we did get unlucky with seating next to the kitchen behind a huge column right at the back, so maybe it would have been a nicer experience being seated in a different spot. Ordered the 1kg rib eye to share, it was also okay, but something you could order at a decent pub. We really enjoyed the service at least, our server Adrian was very attentive and had some great suggestions for wine and sides, definitely a mixed experience! Edit: I really donโt appreciate the lecture I received from management. Are you seriously scolding me for an honest review? Iโll happily never step foot back in the place now. I can see from some other honest reviews management has too much time on their hands and should maybe focus on sourcing another supplier for their steak. Edited star rating to reflect this. Absolutely bizzare.
Bistro Rex offers a cosy and elegant dining experience with a modern European touch. The food is well executed, using quality ingredients and balanced flavours, while the presentation is simple yet refined. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a great spot for a relaxed dinner or a casual catch-up. Service is attentive and professional, adding to an overall enjoyable and comfortable dining experience.
After giving up on Australian beef in those touristy restaurants, I came to this restaurant for Duck but they only serve duck in the winter. I decided to give Australian beef 1 last chance after the manager showed me the cut in raw. The 28-year-old cooked the 900 gram m4 ribeye medium rare to perfection. That was the best steakhouse i had in Sydney. Good job. BTW, the cheese souffle was very unique but it prevented me from trying their dessert souffle. Nice people
The best part is they accept BYO in certain days and charge corkage. French bistro if you are not over excepting on cuisine. Probably some entrees parfait and mains steak and fries would be good choice.
