Just back home from visiting Emily Taylor. It was a restaurant on our “Try before you die” list. I really don’t get all these glowing 5 star reviews. We had the kingfish ceviche. It had very odd harsh unbalanced flavours. Just tasted very limey and was not pleasant at all. BUT, the fish was very fresh and great quality, just that sauce….yuck The barramundi was deep fried (which was a shock, it didn’t state on the menu it was cooked this way) the batter was infused with “horrible” flavours is the only way I could describe it. $48 for a very average Peking duck was a bit hard to take. Certainly not the “aromatic crispy duck” we were expecting. Just fatty, greasy duck. The beef cheeks. The meat was well cooked, but it was cold, I mean completely stone cold and the sauce (mostly hoisin, was sickly sweet.) I gave this place a 1/10 on my list of places to try before you die. Really disappointed as we had so been looking forward to trying this place. $150 and I’m walking down to our shopping centre to get a kebab, I’m starving…….
The Food is very nice and very reasonably priced. Amazing flavours that hit and a menu that’s abit different from most places. I highly recommend coming here to try the menu. The atmosphere is good the place is clean and the service is perfect. Great experience and I will be back to try the other menu items.
The venue is beautiful, the food was amazing, there’s a great bar menu and the staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. We really couldn’t pick at anything to improve on. I would recommend booking as it gets busy, for good reason. I would happily visit again. Thanks for a great lunch from someone who is GF, vegan and has a nut allergy. It was excellent!
Visited Emily Taylor Bar & Kitchen in July and overall had a really positive experience. The food was excellent — well presented, full of flavour, and clearly prepared with care. Portions were generous and the menu had something for everyone. The service was also great: friendly, attentive, and efficient without feeling rushed, which made for an enjoyable visit. The only downside was the state of the toilets, which unfortunately were quite dirty at the time. We did let staff know, and while they were polite and receptive, it was disappointing given the otherwise high standard of the venue. That said, the quality of the food and the professionalism of the service really stood out and outweighed the negative. With attention to facilities, this would easily be a 5-star experience. Would happily return for the food and atmosphere, and hope the amenities are improved on the next visit. 🍽️ Great food 👏 Friendly service 📍 Central Fremantle location
Booked a few weeks ago for 7:15pm dinner. Great ambience and it was busy for weekday night. We had the 5 dishes for 2 pax. Oyster dumplings, Wagyu wonton, beef cheek (amazing with rice!!), lamb (delicious!!) and fried squid. All were delicious and tasty. Fabulous food and service. From Maître D to waitress, all staff were friendly. Special shout out to Bella who served us through the night. Will come back when visiting Fremantle again in the future!
