Driving to Ballarat for dinner at Meigas is always worth the trip. The dishes may use simple ingredients, but the flavors are truly outstanding. Prices are very reasonable, and the sangria is the perfect treat after a long drive!
When in Ballarat, this place is A MUST for absolutely delicious Spanish cuisine delight! With a cool atmosphere, music and decor to make you feel the Spanish feel, we were welcomed in by the team to our large and spacious table for six. Served by the wonderful Renata we ordered our paella for two (expect 40+mins on this), the meatballs, prawns, oysters, bbq pork, lamb skewers, and peppers. Not a single disappointment with all delicious and great for sharing. The star of the paella was a delicious finish, fresh and flavourful, sizeable and perfect in portion. Huge shout out to Renata for making this a great culinary experience with her amazing service. Definitely returning to here when next in Ballarat.
We had lunch here on a Saturday, the waitress was very attentive , she recommended great dishes and wines and also portion sizes. Couldnโt fault the meal. It was one of the best meals weโve had for a while, will definitely be back. The croquettes were to die for.
I was surprised to find a well-rated Spanish restaurant in Ballarat, so our family decided to give it a try while we stayed there for the weekend. The food was decent, nothing to write home about. It wasn't unpalatable, but it wasn't stellar either. However, the service was poor. Both waitresses working at that time were unfriendly from the start, barely a smile, seemed very rushed, curt, and hurried. It was also really hard to get their attention to order/ask for something. Keep in mind that we came in before the lunch crowd came in so it was still quite empty when our group was seated. The restaurant interior and ambience was really nice though. Very charming and cute. All in all, wouldn't really recommend this place unless you're craving for Spanish and you can't go into Melbourne for logistical reasons.
Their manchego cheeses were SO GOOD. The olive oil they have on the table was so amazing I bought 2 (thank you for having them on retail to buy!). I also really enjoyed the paella, I liked that there was a decent amount of seafood and chicken on the pan. Definitely worth a visit in Ballarat.
